It is an iron supplement used to treat or prevent low blood levels of iron. Iron is an important mineral that the body needs to produce red blood cells and keep you in good health. When the body does not get enough oxygen due to lack of iron, symptoms such as tiredness, shortness of breath, and learning problems may occur. This is a type of anemia called iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency usually improve within a few days, you may have to take ferrous sulfate for 6 months if you have severe iron deficiency. This medication should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
